Hot Springs Loop Trail

1.4 miles round trip

About: See Hot Springs District as a prerequisite. This historic hike takes you along the top of the cliffs of the spring. Not only will you get great views of the Rio Grande and Hot Springs Canyon, but there’s also still ruins left of the original home J.O. Langford built upon arriving to settle the area. The one you will see in the parking lot was the second home he built. Don’t miss out on this short hike while visiting the springs – the Hot Springs is part of this loop.

Pros: Great river views. Solitude above while the crowds mass below. Intriguing geology.

Cons: No shade on the top portion. The parking is getting insanely crowded during holiday visitation and the parking lot completely full. Organized car queues are now forming at a waiting area to allow people in an out as people come and leave.

Tips: There’s a lot of history here. If you look around, you’ll find traces of history.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if you’re into the history like me.
